I am getting an iPod (30Gb - the one with a lot of capacity).
Can anyone tell me how to get a CD into an iPod? How do I get music from a CD into my computer and then transfer it? Where is it stored in the computer?
Apparently there is a website with all of the names of all of the tracks of CDs recorded (1/2 a million+) - anyone got the link?
Any other helpful suggestions?

Pro Should I visit the iTunes website or just wait for (presumably) the free CD ROM that will come with the iPod?
(All of this Pod stuff reminds me of 'Red Dwarf' - now, why would that be?)

Yes the software will come with it or should do and it is very simple to use. Even I managed to work it all out and I'm no computer whizz. Once iTunes is installed it makes downloading CDs from computer very easy.
With your iPod comes a disc containing the iTunes software. iTunes stores all your imported tracks and transfers them to your iPod.
When you've opened up iTunes, stick almost any CD into your computer's tray and iTunes (providing you are online at the time) will recognise it in seconds and list the tracks on screen. You then import the content of that CD into iTunes, then it's transferrable to your iPod by clicking on "Update Znethru's iPod" (or whatever you choose to call yours!)
That's the basics. I'm sure there are more technically-minded people out there who can offer suggestions as to what else you can do with it, but apart from plonking half my CD collection onto mine, plus a few downloaded mp3's, I haven't explored its full capabilities yet (have had it for 18 months!). But I do know I'd be lost without it - goes almost everywhere with me.

You have to fold the CD up very small and it's way fiddly. Either that or I use iTunes, the software for which comes with iPod. It's very user friendly..........
