Shape conundrum
Can anyone actually define the shape of a potato?
Spooky yet Philosophical: Chips

Amazing fact.
No two potatoes are the same...
and yet most chips are similar.
Jim Jarmusch recommends...
JJ has a good website where he recommends an interesting variety of films.
Last game of the evening...
Earlier Today...
Earlier today...
'the game'
remember it is meant to be a spurious news-type story!
Earlier
Today
a new fun game for all to try...
Some little time ago, I invented the following game. Taking it in turns to say one word each but without ever ending the sentence, one concocts a spurious 'news' story starting with the words "Earlier Today..." Let's see how it goes in today's game, I will start and anyone can join in at any point, just keep in mind that you are only allowed to write one word and that the person who ends the sentence is the loser!

Is it 'housy' or 'housey'?
as in "doing housey things" which I leave as my 'status' on Yahoo messenger (YM).
free 'bag for life' day @ Sainsbury's (Edgware)
I managed to grab a free 'bag for life' at my local Sainsbury's today. I don't know if this was a UK-wide promo or just local to me, but it's quite a chunky bag and is sure to get a fair bit of usage.
As soon as it develops a hole you simply show up at the supermarket and they replace it, so everyone's a winner!
a drink for the ladies...
Anyone fancy going in for a Maths degree?
In the UK you have to work out the length of the longest side of a right-angled triangle where the two shorter sides are 3 and 4.
In China, it's not quite so straightforward.

Shadow Puppetry
I am publishing some cool websites today. Most of these have been entered into the 'Webby' awards 2007.

"The Webby Awards"
This is a website where you register and vote for your top website (in various categories).

Alec Holden's secret?
"...it is important not to worry about anything, do as little work as possible, and go on lots of holidays. "
Fluffy Bunnies etc.
I thought I'd start a new trend on BCUK by publishing an image of a fluffy bunny. If you do anything similar on your blog, please let me know. Let's see who's keeping up with the super-trendies.
Someone told me that if I put a fluffy bunny on my blog...

Someone told me that if I put a fluffy bunny on my blog I'd make lots of new friends.
"Eric conveys an emotion..."
Some of you may have already seen this website which features American-Chinese actor Eric, who poses for all sorts of weird and wonderful photos as he expresses the whole gamut of human emotion.
(You have to click items on the left-hand side of the website which scrolls right down).
email disaster
Wouldn't it be funny if for 24 hours all of the emails you sent, were sent to the wrong people?
It's always a nightmare to think that you might be sending 'authorised information' to one party which is 'classified' from someone else.
This will almost certainly be true if your friends and family are anything like mine trying to keep a gazillion secrets from each other all of the time.
I heard someone did not like the word 'blog'.
I have an Uncle who calls it a blogue. I occasionally call it a bolge.
However, surely an 'a'log is better than a 'b'log?
"Blogger online" box.
People might think that I'm 'here'. Well, I cannot totally dispute that, I am here at this split second.
However, if I stay 'signed in' to this page and yet do a-hundred-and-one other activities simultaneously, am I really still 'here'?
Let's just say the Scientists are working on it.
Ping in 15 minutes just ain't acceptable...
Could I just say that if you're going to send my Ping in 15 minutes that kind of behaviour just isn't acceptable. I expect my Ping to be sent instantaneously. Are we living in the 19th Century or something when messages were sent via letter, envelope and penny postage and/or via telegram?
Proposed Boredom scale 0 to 10
People (esp. on here, but everywhere) say "I'm Bored, I'm Bored..." (I suppose I've even said it myself before now).
Does the panel think that there could be some sort of Boredom scale i.e. use such words as:
Bored, Lonely, Miserable, Deflated, Defeated, Mildly Unamused, At one's wits end, Suicidal, Having a bad hair day, etc.
Thus one could rate one's boredom (as everything else on the interweb seems to get rated) from zero to ten.
easy photo re-sizing
This looks like an easy-to-use site for photo re-sizing.
What I have been up to today:
You have to read the list backwards though (for it to make sense).
Meetings: is there a point?
Do you do meetings? Can you name one constructive thing ever to come out of a meeting? How time-efficient is a meeting?
Seen on twitter
"And that, Jasper, is more or less the way things are in the hood..."
Another fascinating website just discovered...

The Rose Tattoo at the NT (Olivier)
Has anyone seen this yet? I might be going on Saturday but it's a flip of a coin as there is a (quite) good Classical concert on at the QEH as well that evening.

886 in Chinese...
If any of you are chatting (via a chat facility) with a Chinese friend trying to pick the language up, try ending the conversation with either 88 or 886. I am not joking (for once). Apparently, this really means 'goodbye' or 'au revoir' or something.
