OK I am fading now...

by Znethru @ 31 Dec. 2007 - 02.28:52

01.26 where has the day gone?

I could stay up all night listening to this Haydn Oratorio on Radio 3 - super performance.

However, I have a more pressing appointment with some bread and cheese in the kitchen, before entering the zee-zone.

Flour Power

by Znethru @ 31 Dec. 2007 - 02.18:32

you have flour power if you need the bread

(that didn't quite turn out right).

Nonsense for Kelly

by Znethru @ 31 Dec. 2007 - 02.16:52

Kelly is Speedy
So, Run, don't walk!
Speedie is Kellie
So eat and talk!

To double your advantage
Act twice as fast
As those around you
Opportunities pass

This is 08
So never be late
Lets get up to speed
It's what the world needs!

Man City 0 - 0 Liverpool

by Znethru @ 31 Dec. 2007 - 02.13:05

Did this football match sum up anyone's year?

Policy pays off yet again!

by Znethru @ 31 Dec. 2007 - 02.08:16

This is the last time I will mention this (today).

My policy is to write blog-postings at unpopular times of day to keep my stats down (hence avoiding being positioned in the top-18).

Oh what a day it's been!

Welcome International Visitings to New Year's Eve.

by Znethru @ 31 Dec. 2007 - 02.05:27

23 more celebratory hours before we hail in '08.

The doom-and-gloom mongers are already hard at it trying to smash confidence in the economy, the ecology and basically, anything that moves (or doesn't move).

But I say "No".

And it is by saying "No" in a loud and rather un-British manner that has got me to where I am today!

Follow that advice and I will see you here again in '09 as long as you keep avoiding pedestrian crossings.

For the record, can I just say

by Znethru @ 30 Dec. 2007 - 13.58:23

Aaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!!!!

::High-level meeting::

by Znethru @ 29 Dec. 2007 - 22.53:04

I'd like to fix up a high-level online conference-style meeting.

It doesn't feel like a Saturday!

by Znethru @ 29 Dec. 2007 - 17.52:41

I have spent a lot of time with my favourite person during this breakette. Some would say "too much time" and that it's gone to my head more than a little.

Anyway, I am continuing to do a bit of music today and planning to drive up to Bedford for a house-warming stroke New Year's Eve bash on 31st.

Tomorrow will probably have a similar 'feel' to today.

No prizes for guessing how many olives I had for lunch.

Staying up late and listening to the radio.

by Znethru @ 29 Dec. 2007 - 02.01:38

I had a difficult day owing to lack of sleep last night. I couldn't turn off the radio as I was tuned in to Dotun Adebayo's tremendous through the night show (on BBC Radio five live) which starts at 1 a.m. he had a film reviewer on who gave some tips for the top five films of 07. At 2 a.m. a radio shrink came on. A really good one (even better than Doctor Fish!) By that time though, I was getting a bit exhausted and had the sense to switch off. But couldn't really drift off. I entered a sort of half-sleep state.

Anyway, today has been survived and upwards and onwards as we move towards the weekend.

15 to 1 personage

by Znethru @ 28 Dec. 2007 - 19.23:49

I once met someone whose job it was to research the questions for the (at the time) popular C4 quiz show 15 to 1.

We were at a party at the time and my first remark to him caused at least three of my friends to ROFLTAO like they hadn't done in a long time.

"Hello Neil, drink or nominate?"

(I guess you had to be there.)

I seem to be stuck in a time-warp.

by Znethru @ 28 Dec. 2007 - 15.00:49

It appears everyone's blogs are exactly the same today as yesterday!

The story of my aunt's Piano.

by Znethru @ 26 Dec. 2007 - 13.45:37

My great aunt died about 18 months ago aged 95. At 85 she'd offered to leave me her grand piano in her will. I said I'd think about it and wrote her a letter a week or so later tactfully saying I didn't have the space for it. In reality it was a clapped out piece of garbage that had a negative value in as much as you'd need to pay someone to take it off your hands. In the end, my uncle (who owns a massive furniture business febland.com) sent a large van to pick it up when she passed away. After a year or so he found a punter for it. I believe he achieved a four-figure sum for the monstrosity, although he was required to paint it white before the customer would complete!

Merry Boxing Day!

by Znethru @ 26 Dec. 2007 - 01.02:14

08 is getting ever nearer!

Enjoy the last 6 hours, everybody!

by Znethru @ 25 Dec. 2007 - 19.07:54

I am now wandering back into the kitchen to enjoy another gas-related incident.

Goose - Xmas caption competition

What is the Goose saying?

*featured blog*

by Znethru @ 25 Dec. 2007 - 12.04:36

Well, well. I am a featured blog today! I'd better not be an old misery guts then and start infotaining you all ASAP.

I am spending this Xmas with my bolging colleagues as I find myself lacking in live/real bods who wish to be in my company this year.

Most of my relatives are scattered around the globe this year in an attempt to 'miss' Xmas (really!)

I generally adopt a CeeJ mentality.

by Znethru @ 24 Dec. 2007 - 21.41:56

For those of you who like X-rated banter, feel free to read the 'comments' section of "ooh, I opened the 'write' page." (2 blog postings below).

Merry Xmas Eve International Visitings!

by Znethru @ 24 Dec. 2007 - 20.59:40

According to Urban Dictionary, yesterday was Xmas Adam, today is Xmas Eve.

I suppose Xmas brings the world together for a day, which is one good thing about it.

Personally, I am treating it as a free commission to get on with some musical composing (and making solid progress, I wouldn't want to "do a Schubert").

In other news... not much really. I have to set the record thingy for Doctor Who tomorrow as that looks like the only thing worth watching (and CeeJ wouldn't forgive me if I missed it).

ooh, I opened the 'write' page...

by Znethru @ 24 Dec. 2007 - 20.55:20

That must mean I was on the verge of writing a blog posting (or I clicked the wrong clicky thing).

Mug from Mr B

by Znethru @ 24 Dec. 2007 - 14.52:22

Arguably the best Xmas present I've had this year (I am not likely to get any tomorrow!) is a mug from Mr B. It appears to have a yellow post-it note (on an otherwise white background) with the following inscription (exactly): "Do I look like a f**king people person?"

I'm putting on my top hat (lyrics)

by Znethru @ 24 Dec. 2007 - 01.44:45

I'm putting on my top hat,
tying up my white tie, brushing off my tails.

Lyric with kick

by Znethru @ 24 Dec. 2007 - 01.42:08

I get no kick from champagne,
Mere alcohol doesn't thrill me at all,
So tell me why should it be true,
That I get a kick out of you?!

The wonderful thing about tiggers...

by Znethru @ 24 Dec. 2007 - 01.39:14

Is that tiggers are wonderful things.

Weeza is being way too interesting for this time of night...

by Znethru @ 23 Dec. 2007 - 01.39:37

I think Ms Outram is trying to encapsulate a lifetime's experience in one evening of bolging - quite a feat!

On the other hand, I am being my usual minimal self, describing (where necessary) the most miniscule and irrelevant aspects of what I "really" get up to in the course of my diurnal (not to mention nocturnal) activities.

This is part of the art of being a belletrist.

[The adjective belletristic has one meaning:

Meaning #1: written and regarded for aesthetic value rather than content]

variations on a kissy

by Znethru @ 22 Dec. 2007 - 17.30:26

Obviously, I understand people signing email x or xx or xxx

but what happens when they start putting o's in between?

i.e. xox xoxox or xoxoxox

Are they playing a game of o's and x'sses with me or something?

Kissy, Kissy, etc., I remain yours faithfully, xx

If you want to keep the water clear...

by Znethru @ 22 Dec. 2007 - 12.56:31

If you want to keep the water clear, don't tease the squid.

When I was young...

by Znethru @ 22 Dec. 2007 - 01.07:47

When I was young, I wanted to be tall, dark, handsome, rich and famous. 4 out of 5 ain't bad!

Today hasn't seemed that short (for a shortest day)...

by Znethru @ 21 Dec. 2007 - 18.57:51

I woke up ridiculously early again today. This always happens when there's a Test Match going on, on the other side of the Planet!

At least I managed to do some constructive work on my music.

I've heard from a couple of valuable contacts via email today.

Another person didn't bother showing up for a lesson (which meant more free composing time) and I even managed to get the wink of the forty.

Tonight will be card-related entertainment at Pinner BC (Bridge Club).

The biggest news of the day is that some more of my original work is going to be rehearsed in Spain over the Xmas break by Trio B3 Classic with a view to programming on a future CD.

Mood: Groggy but still relatively well-focused.

I refuse to write about reality part n (title)

by Znethru @ 21 Dec. 2007 - 00.03:53

I refuse to write about reality part n (body)

n (or is it N) is a number

however, n (or is it N) is also a letter

this is always puzzling for people who are bad at algebra

The walk was short
The atmosphere was strained
Details remain sparse
That's the way I prefer it

Tomorrow can only be better (or at least shorter).

Useful Xmas phrases to have up your sleeve.

by Znethru @ 20 Dec. 2007 - 16.16:42

"This isn't a conversation, it's an interrogation!" [Then storm out of the room and go and watch tv upstairs for three hours.]

This is just like being in the diary room of BB...

by Znethru @ 19 Dec. 2007 - 20.46:09

except for the cameras, audience figures in the millions, chair, and BB him(her)self.

Farewell to 07

by Znethru @ 19 Dec. 2007 - 17.51:05

07,
not 007.
What a Year!
A Year for losing,
And not for choosing,
Better perhaps for boozing;
At least this is what I fear.
An utterly forgettable year;
It will finally evaporate,
Never contemplate,
This hate for 07;
But think 08!
08!!!

Things must be bad...

by Znethru @ 19 Dec. 2007 - 16.12:14

I'm hitting the decraff.

I wasn't in the mood for infotaining, yesterday!

by Znethru @ 19 Dec. 2007 - 01.38:23

I was a bit peeved at still not being in the top 18 and have now given up all hope of ever managing that feat again.

25/12 will be spent in the company of my favourite person (me). I will be online, modem permitting.

One of my pupils didn't bother showing up this evening, so I spent the time composing a little jazz for clarinet & piano (one of my favoured line-ups).

I won at bridge again tonight - my regular partner was pleasantly surprised when the score was published online.

I already published the big news of the day on my blog #2 which is the news of my 4th commercial CD.

Good Morning International Visitings!

by Znethru @ 18 Dec. 2007 - 01.04:52

May I welcome all of you to our humble Island!

We have lots of peculiar habits in the old U of K, one of the newer ones is bolging. This of course, has caught on like wildfire. Fortunately, we don't have a lot of wild fire here.

Beneath you will find a couplet with two useful Anglo-Saxon phrases for when you pay us a bodily visiting:

"Pass me the Porridge with salt",
"I'm sorry it wasn't my fault!"

I sit in a room - foom!

by Znethru @ 17 Dec. 2007 - 22.33:53

I’m sitting in a room,
Things go foom!

It starts off rather quiet,
It starts off cold and empty,
But soon I find I’ve plenty!

As things go boom!

So, I’m sitting in this room,
Waiting for a tune,
Equating with the moon…
Rise at half past Noon,

As things go foom!

Or bang, crash, wallop!
O did I eat a scallop?

As things go crash!
Now that’s rather rash,
Do you pay in cash?

As things go wallop!
Like a mischievous bee,
Producing Jam not honey,
Coz he wasn’t paid in money.

It’s really rather funny
How the subject turns to money.

Greenbacks, Dollars, Yen,
I can remember way back when,
The sovereign coin was golden
In those days of olden.

When markets went crash!
Now that was rather rash.

And may ne’er have taken place,
And saved a lot of face,
Had we stayed within the room,
And faced the doom and gloom.
By sitting in the dark,

Or walking in the park,
Or running up the lane,
Or flying in a plane.

As things go foom!
(I’m staying in my room!)
