The audience applauded after the first movement of the Symphony. This practise had died out for about 50 years or so, and is still pretty rare today. Usually the applause is saved up to the very end of the Symphony.
I think the audience were enjoying the performance so much that they wanted to show their appreciation of the inclusion of this work in the concert repertoire.

I slept from 1am to 8am which was a result. 7 hours of straight sleep is an almost unheard of luxury.
The problem of waking up early is that there is not much to do!
Anyway, I am listening to my Piano Colours CD and visiting a few websites now. Whether I can dream up a worthwhile project is the next step i.e. writing my biography in the form of a tv teleplay or composing an Opera or Musical.

This holiday has seemed like 6 weeks. So, from some points of view at least, quite a success, really.
I am looking forward to getting back home to normality and have plenty of ideas, projects, schemes and themes to throw myself into.
Hopefully, some of these will be worthy of blogging and things will return more to normal on that front too!

I am just taking a breather over here i.e. 4 more days before getting back to N W London. You have to have the right mindset to get through the Edinburgh Festival. If you're not careful, you can go along to far too many shows and get caught up in a ridiculous time and logistics schedule.
Also, it's rather hit or miss trying to select things to see.
I was fairly successful in finding good quality performances. I think anyone going there for the first time would find it a bit of a daunting experience.

Mr B has gone back to London and I am whizzing round even faster from show to show here. The best things I've seen so far are Lucy Porter "Fool's Gold" and Pappy's Fun Club. There's a publication called 'Three Weeks' which tries to publish reviews of the 3000(?) shows that are on here. It is a slightly chaotic mentality that succeeds here. Another 48 hours or so to go before I return to some sort of normality.

Soaking up the atmosphere in Edinburgh. Rushing from show to show and the next one starts imminently. Not sure if I've discovered any hot new talent yet, but there's still a long way to go.
